No matter who you are, what happened, or when it happened, you deserve support.
KASAP is the statewide coalition for Kentucky’s rape crisis centers and does not provide direct services to survivors. If you’re looking for support, advocacy, or resources, you can connect with the program serving your area below.
Services are free and confidential. Advocates can listen without judgment, answer your questions, explain your options, connect you with resources, and support you in deciding what happens next.

- Listen to you and provide support without judgment.
- Help you understand your options and make decisions that feel right for you.
- Connect you with medical, legal, counseling, and other resources.
- Accompany or support you through processes such as seeking medical care or reporting, if you choose.
- You never have to make a decision or report an assault to receive support.

- You have the option to seek medical care as soon as possible after a sexual assault. Any hospital emergency department should be able to provide a sexual assault forensic exam (SAFE exam).
- Some hospitals have nurses who are specially trained in caring for sexual assault survivors through a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. These hospitals may have additional specialized resources and experience in responding to sexual assault.
- If you are able and want to travel to a hospital with a SANE program, you can find a list of SANE-ready hospitals here.
- If a SANE-ready hospital isn't accessible to you, you can still receive an exam at another hospital. You should not be turned away from care.
- A sexual assault exam can provide medical care, including treatment for injuries, emergency contraception, and medication to help prevent sexually transmitted infections. The exam can also collect evidence that may be present on your body.
- A sexual assault advocate may be able to meet you at the hospital to offer support before, during, and after the exam. The nurse and advocate can help you understand your options and make decisions about your care.

- You may not know right now whether you want to report your assault to the police, and that’s okay.
- You don’t have to decide right away, and you don’t have to report if you don’t want to.
- You have the right to seek a sexual assault exam whether or not you report to the police.
- Kentucky has different reporting options that can give you time to make the decision that is best for your situation.
- A sexual assault advocate can explain these options, answer your questions, and support you in whatever you decide.
