WITH: Dr. Amanda Allen, PhD, Education & Outreach Supervisor, Sexual Violence Resource Center of the Bluegrass
WHEN: Thursday, January 8, 2pm-3:30pm ET/1pm-2:30pm CT

WHAT: This webinar introduces a specific stream of women’s self-defense called Empowerment Self-Defense (ESD). In this time, we will talk about the early history of women’s self-defense, how it evolved through time, and how it became “Empowerment” Self-Defense. We will explore how ESD is different from other forms of women’s self-defense, including exploring research that shows this specific type of women’s self-defense can be considered a primary prevention program. We will provide tools to help the audience distinguish ESD from other self-defense programs and teach a few ESD skills that you can take with you.
