Please note you must attend the entire training (10:00am – 4:00pm ET / 9:00am – 3:00pm CT daily) to become a certified Green Dot Instructor.
High schools new to Green Dot. Use the following guidelines to determine the minimum required number of participants to form your implementation team:
High schools that are already implementing Green Dot do not have minimum requirements for registration. The 4-day instructor training gives attendees all of the foundational knowledge and skills they’ll need to implement the Green Dot program. This training is a train-the-instructor model rather than a train-the-trainer model; meaning that those who attend are certified to implement the Green Dot program but are not certified to train others to do so. Included in the four-day training is: Research foundation: The research that informs the strategy and knowledge of why we implement the curriculum the way it is designed. This component will cover assumptions we have made as a field historically and how we can improve our reach and effectiveness within prevention. Modeling of curricular components: The training instructors will model the curricular components of the high school strategy for the participants so they can experience what their target audiences will be learning. Messenger Matters: There is an emphasis within the strategy on HOW we deliver content as much as there is on WHAT we deliver. To that end, sessions within the training will cover presenter skills as well has exploring how hope and authenticity influences how we show up in a training room. Practice: Integrated throughout the four-day training are practice sessions where participants can practice the content out loud. Our goal is for participants to leave the training with a strong grasp of the content and confidence in their ability to deliver it effectively. Implementation: On the final day of training, most of the day is spent in creating an implementation plan. Participants will work in teams and begin divvying up roles, setting dates, and brainstorming ideas for events, social marketing, and engagement within their school. Technical Requirements:
