Our Mission

The Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc. (KASAP) is the statewide coalition of the 13 rape crisis centers in the Commonwealth. The mission of KASAP is to speak with a unified voice against sexual victimization.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality & privacy are critical legal issues for many survivors. Fortunately, many laws exist to protect victims’ privacy. Specific laws address concerns related to health care providers, courts, and public records. For a detailed discussion of confidentiality and privacy issues, click here.

Fortunately, strong confidentiality laws have been developed to protect victims’ communications with advocates. Communications with Rape Crisis Center advocates are considered “privileged” and cannot be disclosed without the victim’s consent (except in cases covered by mandatory reporting laws).
