The Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc. (KASAP) is the statewide coalition of the 13 rape crisis centers in the Commonwealth. The mission of KASAP is to speak with a unified voice against sexual victimization.

SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SART AC)

Kentucky’s Sexual Assault Response Team Advisory Committee (SART AC) is a multi-disciplinary collaboration responsible for developing policies to maximize response to sexual assault, pursuant to KRS 403.707. Led by the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs and the Kentucky State Police, the SART AC meets monthly to make recommendations regarding: protocols for performance of Sexual Assault Forensic-Medical Exams (SAFE exams) and operation of Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs), licensure of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), changes in laws, policies, and trainings related to sexual assault and sexual assault response.

KASAP is thankful for the many additional participants whom regularly attend and contribute to the work of the SART AC.

In communities throughout Kentucky, Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) are organized on a local level to meet the unique needs of the community. SART teams are a valuable tool in communities for improved evidence collection, increased reporting, increased prosecution rates, reducing cost, and reducing retraumatization to victims.
